Classes: Beginner's Knitting

In this class you will learn how to make a stained glass Christmas runner that will amaze your family come dinner time.
You can make them as a gift for family and friends or keep it for your christmas table.

Requirements:

- Sewing machine in Good working condition, all feet and bobbins for your machine, walking foot

Have you always wanted to learn to crochet, seen some of your friends crochet some cool garments or toys and wanted to have a go? This class is designed for those who have never crocheted before or who need their crocheting skills refreshed from the beginning.

In this class you will be making peggy squares. They can be made into a blanket, coat, scarf or... the list is endless!

Class requirements:
- 4mm crochet hook
- 1x 8 ply wool (50g balls)
- Notebook and pen

Class length: 1.5 hour classes

Are you new to machine embroidery and would like to have a go?

Learn the basics of machine embroidery while making different projects!

Requirements for the project in the class will be different each time so please come in store or contact us for a needs list for the particular project.

Have you always wanted to give quilting a go but had no idea where to start? Then this class is for you!

In this class you will learn the very basics of quilting, right from using a rotary cutter and cutting mat to quilting with a walking foot!

You have a choice of making either the Cozy Star Quilt - Approx 150cm Square, or Traditional Nine Patch Quilt - Approx 140m x 170m

Class Requirements:
- Sewing machine in Good working condition with power cord, foot control and all accessories 
- 1/4" foot and Walking foot (Please ask us if you need to purchase these and we can find the right ones for you)
- Good quality Quilting Thread to match your fabric - Available in store 
- 45mm Rotary Cutter and Cutting Mat (A2 is best for classes) - There is an A1 mat in the classroom if needed
- 6 1/2" x 12 1/2" or 6 1/2" x 24 1/2" Quilting Ruler
- Scissors, Pins, Seam Ripper
- Mini iron and pressing mat (If you have one)
- Notebook and pen

Fabric Requirements for Cozy Star Quilt:
- Fabric A - Background - 1m - Needs to be a contrast so the stars stand out
- Fabric B - 1m - 4x Star points and first border
- Fabric C - 2m - 4x Star points and second border plus binding 
- Backing Fabric - 1.7m of wide quilt backing material
- 1.7m of Quilt Batting (Cotton)

Fabric Requirements for Traditional Nine Patch Quilt:
- Main fabric (large print) - 1.7m Main large squares and outer border
- Contrast print - 70 cm
- Plain Fabric - 1.2m 9 patch and inner border and binding
- Backing - 1.5m 2.4mt wide
- Wadding - 1.5m

Learn the art of doodling free hand patterns with thread to create a truly unique design on your finished quilt.

Class Requirements:
- Sewing machine in Good working condition with power cord, foot control and all accessories 
- Free Motion Darning Foot to fit your machine - Please enquire if you need to purchase one
- Good Quality sewing thread - A contrasting colour is best - if unsure we have some available to purchase in store
- 2x 1m squares of calico fabric
- 1m square of quilt batting 
- Notebook and pen

Do you have a new Sewing machine, or an older one that you feel you just don't know how to use? Then this class is the answer!

We will take you through all the basics from threading the machine to buttonholes and zippeers.

You will be sewing a simple cushion cover using your new found skills, a process that includes sewing seams, using different types of stitches and sewing a buttonhole! 

You will also learn how to make a zippered case.

After this class, you will have the confidence to get started on your sewing journey.

You will learn new techniques and tips on how to get the most of your overlocker

- Overlocker in good working condition with Power cord/foot control and manual
- Overlocker Accessories including tweezers, screwdrivers etc

This class is designed for you to bring along your quilting project and have an experienced quilter available if you need help or ideas. An enjoyable class to have a chat with other likeminded people.

Bring your sewing basics, machine if you need it and everything you'll need for your project. Remember, if you forget anything, or need something at the last minute, the shop is only steps away!

Have a go at some scrappy applique! Use up some of your scraps, using whatever colour you like for this striking wall hanging.

In this class you will make this amazing scrappy applique zebra quilt, designed by our very own Lynette - Approx 1m x 1.1m

- 1/4" foot, appique foot and Walking foot (Please ask us if you need to purchase these and we can find the right ones for you)
- Good quality Quilting Thread to match your fabric - Available in store
